Although we don’t need a designated day to honor the women in our life, today is International Women’s Day and people all over the word are celebrating and appreciating the strong and beautiful women in their life.
There is no reason why teens just like you and I can’t do the same. In fact, you can easily join activists this coming season by hosting events at your school or within your community. As part of the Vagina Monologues and this year’s “V-Season”, there are over 5,400 V-Day benefit events taking place on college campuses and in communities in over 50 countries and all 50 states. Support the global movement, spread awareness, and help end violence against women and girls.
For more information on how to organize your own Vagina Monologues event, check out this linkand get your event registered (you must get the rights to the event first)! If you do not want to host a V-event, there are many more ways to host an event. You can set up a teach-in, speaker panel, film screening. If you can’t host an event at your school, then you can always try your local community organizations or even write an article about a V-event you attended in your school newspaper!
Once you set up your event, feel free to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org the details. We would love to see what you are doing for women in your community! We can also help you spread the word about your event to give other CA teens the chance to attend. Remember, it does not have to be Women’s Day for you to acknowledge and thank the women in your life.
