Peer Provider News
What is a 'Peer Provider'?
A Peer Provider is a highly trained young adult aged 14-24 who works in a family planning setting or outreach program. Peer Providers deliver reproductive health services to other teens and young adults. They are committed to providing people their own age with the resources, information, and support they need to make good, healthy decisions. They believe everyone, young and old alike, has the right to have free, confidential, quality health services.
Peer Providers are able to help their clients in many ways. They:
- Schedule appointments.
- Conduct medical intakes.
- Provide STD, birth control method, and pregnancy counseling.
- Do outreach work in the community.
They work closely with the medical staff to make sure clients get non-judgmental services in a comfortable environment.
