About Teen Source
TeenSource.org is an educational website launched in July 2001 by the California Family Health Council, Inc. (CFHC) as a resource for teens and young adults between the ages of 13 and 24 seeking information on healthy and responsible sexual lifestyles. CFHC is a nonprofit organization striving to improve the health of Californians by ensuring access to quality, comprehensive reproductive health and family planning services. In 2008 CFHC received nearly $21 million in Title X family planning funds and distributed it to over 70 Delegate Agencies that served over one million clients.
Our efforts provide financial management services, technical assistance, training and education to community based health providers and model innovative, effective solutions to healthcare challenges. CFHC also conducts cutting edge contraceptive research and works to inform the public and policy makers about important family planning and reproductive health issues.
TeenSource.org is an educational website that appeals to its audience with music, videos, contests and prize giveaways. The main objective was to offer education to youth at the same level that an outreach worker would and do so in an entertaining and interactive format. The website offers educational and funny streaming videos about sexual and reproductive health, celebrity testimonials, links to several other youth oriented health and social service websites, information and links to free and low cost clinical services throughout the state, and virtual clinic tour videos.
The website has won the 2003 Golden Web award for health information.
