Oral sex
5/5/2005

Oral sex, also known as a blow job, eating out, going down on, giving head, is more official named "fellatio" for the guy and "cunnilingus for the girl. Oral sex is exactly what it implies; it's the pleasures of sex given orally, where one partner orally pleasures the other partner's genitals. When both partners are performing oral sex on one another at the same time it's called '69'.

Some misconceptions of earlier generations was that only guys were supposed to receive oral pleasure, but now, as popular shows like "Sex and the City" have taught us, oral sex is give and take.

Like the actual act of sexual intercourse, oral sex is a sexual act. There has been controversy in the past as to whether oral sex should be considered in the same realm of sex in the way that if you have engaged in oral sex, it means that you are no longer a virgin.

However, while it is a personal decision whether or not you consider oral sex a means of losing your virginity, there are certain ramifications that oral sex, like vaginal sex, has.

Contrary to popular belief, sexually transmitted diseases (STD's) can be transmitted through oral sex. When performing oral sex you can contract such STD's as oral herpes, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital warts and even HIV. The way that STD's are spread is through the sharing of fluid bodily fluids, so if you have a cut in your mouth, even a very small and seemingly harmless or unnoticeable one, you do run the risk of getting an STD even if you are not engaging in sexual intercourse.

The safest way of giving a guy a blow job is by using a condom. There are flavored condoms so that their partner girl doesn't need to suck on a piece of bad tasting rubber or plastic. Condoms come in chocolate, banana, mint, cherry and lots of other flavors. The safest way to "eat out" a girl is by using a dental dam. A Ddental dam is a piece of square latex used to cover the vagina so that the girl's vaginal fluids don't get into their partner's guys mouth. Some people try to make their own version of the dental dam by cutting a condom down the middle or using plastic wrap. While these methods are effective, the safest route is to use the traditional dental dam itself.

The one difference between sex and oral sex is that a girl cannot get pregnant when giving or getting oral sex. Because of that, many people in relationships choose to engage in oral sex rather than sexual intercourse because it is safer in that respect.
