Teen Pregnancy Pact in Gloucester, Mass.

Share!

Teens at a Massachusetts high school made a pact to get pregnant and raise their babies together.  This agreement to get pregnant has at least 17 high-school girls expecting, four times more than last year.  The girls, all 16 years of age or younger, promised each other to become pregnant and raise their children together.  Get this--most of the fathers were boys in the school but one of the fathers is a 24-year-old homeless man.  There is now talk of possible prosecuting the males involved in the pact.  Under Massachusetts state law, it is illegal to have sex with someone under 16, even if the sex if consensual.

Read the article and watch an interview with one of the 16 year old girls involved in the Pregnancy Pact.

Update:  The mayor of Gloucester, Carolyn Kirk, is now denying the existence of a Pregnancy Pact, instead blaming the media's glamorization of pregnancy. Kirk alludes to movies such as "Juno" and young celebrities such as Jamie Lynn Spears (who just gave birth last Thursday) as a cause in the spike of teen pregnancies.  Stay tuned for more updates on this news.
