Dear President, Good Food is a Right Not a Privilege

Ever think about writing a letter to the President to solicit much needed change? Well, a simple correspondence to Barak Obama might do the trick, or at least land your cause a blurb in national media. Chef and healthy food advocate, Alice Waters, is proposing a national food reform, starting with the White House. This call-to-action urges The Obama’s to eat local, organic, seasonal foods and plant organic veggies in the White House garden , with hopes to influence the nations current obese, diabetic population feasting on processed, chemically altered food. The problem is our countries current food culture and the values “we” have currently displaced. According to the Center for Disease Control, obesity in youth 12-19 years of age has increase 5%-17% while 1 in 7 low-income, preschool-age children is obese . Unfortunately, I’m not surprised. Fast-food has become a desired treat, while an organic meal, rich in nutrients and palatable favors isn’t. Yes, Alice Waters in lobbying for a foodie cultural change and her desired spokesman is the President himself.
