Reebok has recently released their Easy Tone shoes that apparently build your lower body in 12 different ways, just like Wonderbread! Reebok claims these sneakers provide 28 percent more gluteus maximus (butt) muscle activation, and 11% more calf and hamstring activation. Fad much??? Many have criticized their new commercial as being sexist and even offensive. And some say they are just funny and harmful. All right boys and girls, this is where critical thinking skills count! The product being sold is a women’s shoe, yet the commercial is obviously geared more towards men. Why you ask? Well, different people will come up with different ideas, but in the end, it’s all about marketing. Could it be that since Christmas is around the corner and it’s the season of gift giving, the ad wants men to buy a pair for their loved one? Or is the marketing trick implying that men want this and women should want to be what men want? Watch for yourself and you be the judge.
