Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month

I recently wrote a blog about the National Day to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, and encouraged readers to take a minute to think about how a pregnancy would change their life. I didn’t really realize how much my own life would change if I got pregnant until I took the time to think about it. Thinking about five ways in which my life would change made me realized that an unexpected pregnancy would totally turn my life upside down, and I know it would do the same to a lot of other young people too. That is why I want to share these websites about teen pregnancy--to help others see how a pregnancy would change their life. At these sites you can learn more about teen pregnancy and see what other teens have to say about getting pregnant. StayTeen.org Stay Teen has a lot of interactive games and videos about what other teens are doing to prevent pregnancy. The Candie’s Foundation The Candie’s Foundation is aims to teach youth about what might happen if they get pregnant. This site also features a lot of celebrities with their own messages about teen pregnancy. Preventing Unintended Pregnancy at MTV.com MTV’s “It’s Your Sex Life” campaign has a page dedicated to pregnancy and what you can do to prevent yourself from becoming pregnant if you are sexually active. You can also read questions that other teens have about pregnancy. The CDC’s page about Teen Pregnancy The Center for Disease Control’s website gives some good statistics on teen pregnancy.
