1st Annual TeenSource Blogger Awards

With the Oscars right around the corner, the TeenSource bloggers decided to create our own awards event, celebrating in our opinion some of the best (and worst) sex moments and stats of the past year.

Without further ado; presenting the 1st Annual…

TeenSource Blogger Awards

Best Phone App of 2012:

     iCondom

     myPill/ myPatch

     MedXSafe

     SafeSex

And the award goes to… iCondom! Produced by MTV, iCondom helps you locate places where you can find and buy condoms when you need them.

Best Sexual Education Website (besides TeenSource of course!):

     Sexetc.org

     Scarleteen.org

     Safeteens.org

     Plannedparenthood.org

And the award goes to…wait, it’s a 4 way tie? How could we decide? We love all these great websites each giving you a different spin on all of your sex issues.

Favorite Safe Sex Slogan:

     Sex can wait; masturbate.

     No glove, No love.

Don’t be silly, protect your willy.

Put some protection on that erection.

And the award goes to…No glove, no love! The slogan is simple, classy and easy to remember.

Craziest News Story of 2012:

This story broke in Aug of 2012 when Missouri governor Todd Akin said that “legitimate rape” rarely results in pregnancy. Way to spread misinformation, and make thousands of rape victims feel ashamed for something that is never, ever their fault. With two thumbs down, we give this guy our anti-award.

Best Celeb that Waited Until Marriage:

Kevin Jonas (married Danielle Deleasa in 2009 and swapped his purity ring for a wedding ring)

Jessica Simpson (married Nick Lachey in 2002)

Supermodel Adriana Lima (married athlete Marko Jaric in 2009)

Tina Fey (married Jeff Richmond in 2001)

And the award goes to…Tina Fey! The “30 Rock” star was 24 when she was married, and although we are sad that ‘30 Rock’ ended, this co-host of the 2013 Golden Globes can still do no wrong in our eyes.

TeenSource Pick-Celeb Crush

And the award goes to… Justin Bieber! While we know celebs are not perfect, and often not the best role models, we love what JBiebz had to say about sex. He told Rolling Stone magazine, “I don’t think you have sex with someone unless you love them.” Sorry Selena, but we’re falling for him all over again!

Best Celeb that Promotes Safer Sex

     Lady Gaga

     Ke$ha

     Lil Wayne

     Kelly Rowland

And the award goes to… Lil Wayne! While all our nominees stand up for using protection, we can’t help but be impressed by a rapper who will stand up for safe sex with these lyrics: “Safe sex is great sex better wear a latex.”

Now we’ll turn our attention to some of highs and lows in our county and state’s sexual health….

Lowest Rates of STD Infections, the awards go to…

     Lowest Rates of Chlamydia: Maine

     Lowest Rates of Gonorrhea: Wyoming

Lowest Rates of Syphilis: Wyoming (there are NO cases at all!)

Lowest Teen Pregnancy Rates: New Hampshire, with 15.7 births per 1,000 women ages 15-19.

Most Improved Award, Teen Pregnancy: Arizona! For decreasing their teen birth rate by 29% in 2010 (California came in 8th—good work!)

Best of Cali: Top 3 Lowest Rates of STD Infections in California Counties

Award for counties with lowest rates of Chlamydia goes to:

     Alpine, Modoc and Sierra counties!

Award for counties with lowest rates of Gonorrhea goes to:

     Sierra, Modoc and Lassen counties!

Award for counties with lowest rates of Syphilis goes to:

Almost all counties across California have equally low rates of syphilis, cheers everyone!

We don’t want to make any of our other counties or states feel bad for being at the bottom of the list, so we won’t call you out (you know who you are)!! Hopefully, you can take notes from this year’s winners to get on next year’s list. Need more info? Get informed, get protected and stay safe, so your state/county can be on top!

Well, that’s the end of our award show, thanks so much for being part of such a special event!

The TeenSource Bloggers would like mention that the above winners were chosen by us, if you disagree or have better nominees tell us about it!!
