Understanding how our bodies work is important! Remember that the images show are only drawings and no two bodies look the same. People may have different skin colors, amount of body hair, and sizes and shapes of different body parts.
We are using the phrases “anatomy of someone assigned male at birth” and “anatomy of someone assigned female at birth” because people with a penis are assigned male when they are born and people with a vulva are assigned female at birth.
Remember that no matter what kind of anatomy someone has, that does not determine their gender. Some people are born intersex or may be transgender.
