Smoke Free

Today is World No Tobacco Day, a day the whole world can rally together against tobacco!

Taking a puff of a cigarette at a party or stealing one out of your friend’s dad’s pack seems harmless enough. Sadly cigarettes are addicting and that first puff may turn into an expensive future regret. Read on for some facts about smoking:

  • People used to be able to smoke on planes! (Gross recirculated air!!)

  • Cigarettes are tobacco right? Wrong they contain 600 ingredients and when smoked that can turn into over 4,000 different chemicals, yikes!

  • In America alone 444,000 people die each year from smoking related problems

  • About 85% of all smokers started before they turned 21.

  • 1 in 4 teens who start smoking will keep smoking, perhaps because teens become addicted faster and to lower levels of nicotine than adults.

So that’s the bad news but what’s the good? There is help! If you or a friend wants to quit smoking click one of the links below for tips and support. And remember if you haven’t started don’t it won’t seem cool when you’re in the respiratory ward of the hospital now will it?
