It's Spring + love is in the air! Here are some healthy relationship tips

Here are a couple of relationship tips to make your spring fling a little more long term:

  • Stay True to Yourself: You want to make sure you’re in a relationship you WANT to be in.
  • You don’t have to “give it up” in order to make them stay: Don’t do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. You shouldn’t have to have sex to keep your partner. You may feel comfortable kissing and touching over your clothes, but don’t want to go any further. That’s OK. Consent is continuous!
  • Self-Love: Sometimes we end up in relationships in order to have someone else make us feel happy or good about ourselves. Just remember: you’re the most important part of a relationship, take care of yourself first and the rest will follow.

Thinking about having sex, keep these in mind: 

  • Contact a teen friendly clinic to get tested and talk about what’s best for you
  • Feel comfortable with your decision. o Communicate with your partner about safe sex (e.g., getting tested, birth control options)
  • Take advantage of FREE condoms through the CAP project!
  • Not EVERYONE is doing it, it’s OK to wait or take it slow until you are ready. In 2015, 41% of U.S. high school students had sexual intercourse. That’s less than half & not even close to everyone.
  • Talk openly and honestly about your fears, worries and feelings. You’re not the only one
