Taking the pill every day at the same time not for you? You have options!

Hookup Tip by Shanya, aged 16

Many people know that taking the birth control pill every day at the time helps make it more effective.  And while that works well for some people, not everyone has the same schedule every day!  So if you tend to forget to take your pill, seem to always be too busy with your schedule, or simply want a change, you have options!

  • IUD: The intrauterine device works up to 12 years and is the most effective at preventing pregnancy.
  • Shot: The shot, also known as Depo-Provera or just Depo, is a hormonal shot that only requires 4 shots per year, helping make birth control forgettable between shots.
  • Implant: The implant is a small rod, about the size of a matchstick, that is gently implanted under the skin in your arm.  It is very difficult to see or feel, and works for three years!

Does it sound like one of  these effective, reversible, and totally private, long term birth control methods would work for you?  Talk to a provider at a clinic near you to find out what birth control will work best to fit YOUR needs!
