Advice from Natalie, our College blogger!

Hey ladies! This is your freshwoman college student reporting to you with some advice that I've learned this first semester at college.

First, it's always nice to start your day with a smile on your face. When you wake up, look at yourself in the mirror with the biggest grin you can. Remember that you are beautiful exactly how you are, and you don't need to let anything define you or your beauty.

Second, since we're all beautiful and probably have a cutie or two "checking us out," it's important to watch out for your surroundings. 1 in 4 women in college experience sexual assault. It's extremely helpful to have a strategy or a plan when you're feeling uncomfortable or feel like you're in a bad situation. If you're hanging out with a new guy, or even a new group of guys, let a friend know where you're going, just in case. You don't have to accuse all males as being sexual abusers, but the stats don't lie. Don't get stuck in an questioning situation, and remember that you CAN be powerful and assertive.

Third, it is absolutely worth it to study and to find your own personal balance. Seriously. I know some students who party every other night and just hang out who also haven't done that much work and are failing and students who don't party at all and just study constantly who are passing with "flying colors," and students who party every once in awhile that study continuously who are also doing a pretty good job in their classes. The point is, we all have different learning styles. Some of us can get math, some of us english, some of us music, art, botany, psychology, or even biology. Stay smiling! --- USE PROTECTION!
