What’s up with the name change?
San Francisco area Planned Parenthood is now Golden Gate Community Health!
If you are a Bay Area teen, you might have noticed that something was different when you stopped by your local Planned Parenthood for birth control or STI testing this month. It isn’t a Planned Parenthood anymore! They changed their name to:
...and have a new website: www.ggch.org. (You can still call the same number 1-800-967-PLAN to make an appointment.)
I worked at the San Rafael Planned Parenthood before the change, and at the San Rafael Golden Gate Community Health Clinic afterward… so I know that some teens were worried that they might not be able to get their birth control, STI testing, abortion, and other services.
Luckily, this change means MORE clinic services, rather than less… All of the former Planned Parenthood clinics, now GGCH, are staying in the same locations and offering the same services. Plus, there are going to be new Planned Parenthood clinics opening in San Francisco, Sonoma, Marin, and Alameda counties in the next few months, which will mean even more options for teens.
