You Can Make a Difference – The Presidential Election 2012

The presidential election – that “thing” that happens once every 4 years, turns the country upside-down, and overtakes the airwaves. The election can be difficult to approach. You may want to get involved and have your voice heard, but you can’t vote unless you’re 18 or older, but there are still ways to get involved!

If you are not 18 you can STILL make a difference:

  • Talk to your friends and family. If there is a topic you feel very passionately about, talk to your friends and family! You may not be able to vote just yet, but they can and they would probably love to hear your opinions and factor them in when casting their ballots.
  • Volunteer at a voting site. This is a great way to get involved in the voting process. You can contact your local county office, or even go online, and sign up to be a volunteer.
  • Volunteer for a candidate. You can also donate your time and skills to a political committee – working more long-term and hands-on.

If you are 18, get out and Rock the Vote!

  • People usually think to themselves, “I’m just one person, what difference would it make if I vote or not?” But if everyone thought that way, no one would vote! You may be one person, but one person is all it takes to make a difference. Registering to vote is quick and easy – just go to http://www.registertovote.ca.gov

Elections will take place on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Write it down. Put a reminder in your phone. Pencil it in in your planner. Just remember that you can make a difference – one way or another!

And make sure to educate yourself on the issues before voting!
