Don't be afraid to ask. Sex should be talked about. Your health, your rights!

You aren’t the first person to feel afraid to talk about sex and you won’t be the last. It’s completely normal to be curious about sex and what it’s all about.  In fact, the first step to properly educating yourself on how to have sex in a way that’s safe, healthy, and pleasurable is through curiosity.  It is also completely normal to be nervous about how to start that conversation with your parents, friends, or your partner.  Fortunately, we are here to give you some tips that will make the whole experience a little bit less stressful.

Some parents won’t be able to talk to you about sex. If that’s your case, you should still talk about sex with a trusted adult in order to get all the information and advice you need. Your doctor or other medical provider is always an option, as well as a counselor, trusted relative or older sibling.

However, if your parents are okay with talking about sex then definitely sit down with them and see what they have to say.  If your parents need more help themselves, direct them to TalkWithYourKids.org for further resources.  Maybe both of you could sit down and go through the information together.

Just make sure that you don’t put off this important conversation for too long. Get your questions answered today!
