Having sex standing up is not an effective form of birth control. Neither is sex in a swimming pool, or a Jacuzzi, or sex with the girl on top. In fact, the position that you have sex in and the location of your sexcapade has nothing to do with your pregnancy risk.
Once sperm are inside the vagina, there’s no stopping the little guys. They are speedy, and gravity doesn’t affect whether they reach the female’s egg or not.
However, using condoms or other birth control does affect whether sperm reach the egg! Condoms prevent sperm from even entering the vagina, and hormonal birth control can prevent ovulation from even occurring in the first place.
