There are a lot of different things to consider when you when you think about having sex. You will need to check in with how you feel physically and emotionally, what your partner is feeling and how your relationship might change if you choose to have sex.
A few key things to remember:
- Use protection for your body. Use a condom if you’re having any type of sex - oral, anal or vaginal. They’re cheap and when used properly they prevent against STD transmission and pregnancy.
- Communicate honestly and openly about what you want and expect from the person you are with. Sex requires a lot of intimacy, and talking with the person you’re getting down with can make you feel more comfortable. Open and honest communication is best so you know what to expect.
- Make sure you are comfortable with your actions, and your pace. No one is entitled to make decisions about your body other than you! You can always halt the pace if you think things are going too fast, or not in a direction that you want to go. Be assertive and make decisions that are healthy for you.
