This Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting organizations and resources that support the health, well-being and empowerment of girls and gender-expansive youth, women, and families.

STATEWIDE

California Black Women’s Health Project

California Black Women’s Health Project is the only statewide non-profit organization that is solely committed to improving the health of Black women and girls in California through advocacy, education, outreach and policy. 

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA

Wellspring Women’s Center - Sacramento

Wellspring Women’s Center is a women’s organization that offers four core programs: Safety Net Services, Children’s Corner, the Women’s Wellness Program, and a Nutritional Meal Program. Wellsprings also provides parenting classes, Spanish translation services, and referrals to other agencies and services.

Pacific Center for Human Growth - Berkeley

Pacific Center for Human Growth is the oldest LGBTQIA+ center in the Bay Area and the third oldest in the nation, and operates the only sliding scale mental health clinic for LGBTQIA+ and QTBIPOC people and families in Alameda County. The center offers culturally responsive therapy, peer to peer support groups, community outreach services, and facilitated workshops.

The Women’s Building - San Francisco

The Women’s Building is a women-led community space that advocates for self-determination, gender-equality and social justice. Each year, over 25,000 women and their families are welcomed to The Women’s Building. The programs and services available include job search assistance, food pantry access, computer lab and tech tutoring, public benefits and legal assistance, financial management assistance, and family reunification services.

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA

California Health Collaborative - Fresno

California Health Collaborative is a health organization that promotes the health and well-being of residents in California. The organization offers maternal wellness programs, breast and cervical cancer programs and resources for postpartum birthing people.

Fresno EOC LGBTQ+ Resource Center - Fresno

Fresno EOC LGBTQ+ Resource Center is a community center that provides supportive services to enhance the health and well-being of individuals of all ages in the LGBTQ+ community. The resource center provides virtual peer support groups, Q-closet, sex positive supplies, trauma-informed care and gender affirming guidance.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Black Women For Wellness - Los Angeles

Black Women for Wellness is a women’s health organization committed to the health of Black women and children and offers programs on disease prevention, reproductive justice and Black maternal and infant health.

Downtown Women’s Center - Los Angeles

The Downtown Women’s Center is the only organization in Los Angeles focused on exclusively serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women through housing, wellness, employment and advocacy.

Asian American Women’s Alliance - Los Angeles

Asian American Women’s Alliance is an organization that seeks to create opportunities for Asian-American women through community service and support, professional and personal development, and leadership development.
