Time for Winter Crafts!

Did you know that you should never use condoms after their expiration date? That’s because expired condoms are more likely to break and less likely to protect against STDs and unintended pregnancy. You can find the expiration date printed on the packaging for each condom.

If you’re looking for something crafty to do over winter break, why not use those expired condoms to make conversation-starting holiday gifts!

Please note, once condoms are used for crafts, they can’t be used again for the body.

Condom Hair Tie

                Materials Needed:
                1 Condom
                Scissors

Did you know you can make hair ties from condoms? Start by removing the condom from its packaging. Unroll the condom to its full length, then use scissors to snip off the top of the condom and down the long side until you hit the thicker ring at the base of the condom. Tear off the excess latex and use scissors as needed to clean up the edges of the ring. Now you have a flexible band that can be used as a hair tie, and the lube from the condom will help prevent snags in your hair!

Condom Earrings

Materials Needed:
                2 Condoms
2 Ball & Coil Earring Hooks
                1 Needle or Safety Pin

Glitter, Glitter Glue, Stickers (Optional)

Show your love for preventing pregnancy and STDs by making a pair of condom earrings! Pick out two condoms with a packaging design you like. You can also add glitter or stickers to condom packaging you find plain. Decide which direction you want the packaging to run and place a small hole in the top center seam of the condom packaging. It is nice to place the hole in the seam around the end of the condom to avoid any lube leaking out of the packaging. Next, using the ball & coil earring hook, lift the ball to expose the ring and then hook the condom through the hole onto the ring. Repeat the same steps with the second condom. Now you have some new earrings that are a real conversation starter!
