True or False? Girls can't get pregnant during their period...FALSE! Always use protection!

Hookup Tip from Kendall Marie, 18

A woman can get pregnant if she has unprotected sex during her period.

Once sperm is in the vagina it can stay alive for 5-7 days. Theoretically, a woman will ovulate before her period; therefore if she is on a particularly short ovulation cycle and a long period, sperm can fertilize an egg even during menstruation. If she ovulates within 7 days of having unprotected sex, there is a chance she could become pregnant.

Most teens have very irregular cycles because their bodies are trying to regulate themselves, so their chances of becoming pregnant are even higher. So whether it’s the first or the last day of the month, always use protection!
